The 26th annual Rhododendron Festival returns to the Deer Lake area May 4, 2014 for a free, fun and family friendly event that celebrates Burnaby’s official flower. Take a five minute stroll from Haddon House to the Deer Lake area and enjoy musical entertainment, mini workshops, horticultural and nature tours as well as commercial plant sales, silent auction and more.
Stroll down to the Shadbolt Centre to enjoy noon-hour concerts. A Little Lunch Music 2013/2014 Series features Shadbolt Centre music instructors as well as a variety of local musicians in all genres of music including jazz, classical, pop and folk. It generally happens every fourth Thursday of the month at Encores Cafe from 12noon- 1pm and features a special buffet lunch ($12) each month starting at 11:30 – 1:30 pm. Vegetarian options are available.
Be sure to take a 5 minute stroll from Haddon House down to the Burnaby Art Gallery before November 17, 2013 to take in the art exhibition entitled ‘Storms and Bright Skies: Three Centuries of Dutch Landscapes’; the exhibition includes Rembrandt etchings.
